The story behind Rotary's Four-Way Test: Herbert J. Taylor, president, Rotary Club of Chicago, 1939-40 and Rotary International 1954-55. He lived from 1893 to 1978. During a business crisis in 1932, he wrote the "Four Way Test," shown above. It was adopted as part of Rotary International in January of 1943. (Taylor's President Page click here)

Google Foundation Gives Rotary US$3.5 Million To Help End Polio

Rotary International has received a US$3.5 million challenge grant from the Google Foundation, a nonprofit managed by Google.org, in support of Rotary’s top goal to eradicate polio worldwide. Rotary will raise funds to match the Google Foundation grant dollar-for-dollar over one year. (click heading for full article)

Rotary Club of New York at The United Nations

The International Service Division of the New York Rotary Club is delighted to present this newsletter in order to demonstrate the commitment and continuing support of Rotary to the United Nations and its Millennium Development Goals.This newsletter will also serve as a platform for information and dialogue between all Rotarians who are interested in the programs of the United Nations and in contributing towards achieving its goals. We invite you to share your experiences from collaboration in projects between Rotary and the United Nations. Please forward any examples and comments regarding recent projects to nyrotaryun@aol.com .
The monthly meetings are coordinated and moderated by N.Y. Rotarian Josef Klee, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations (Retired) and Sylvan Barnet, Alternate Rotary International Liaison to the UN. There are usually no breakfast meetings scheduled in July, August or September.

 

 

 

What is the Paul Harris Fellowship Award?


The Paul Harris Fellowship Award is awarded to men and women for oustanding Service to the community, where a sum of $1,000 (USD) is donated to the Rotary Foundation in the name of the Honoured recipient.  The highest Rotary Award for Service to the community, the "Paul Harris" is awarded to Rotarian irrigardless of length of Service/membership, as well as non-members who have outstandingly Served humanity.  (Click heading for full article.)

President's Quarterly Report

What have we achieved for the community in the first 3 months of this Rotary year?

(1st July - 30th September 2008)

We have raised and donated $25,000 to the community

The Board has successfully implemented the New Club Leadership Plan (CLP)

Inducted one new member

Achieved meaningful member-driven fellowship in meetings, creating cosy café style table setting

Have completed 18 projects

In terms of numbers of people who attended the Fun Run, we had the most successful event in its history



Board has become effective, collaborating effectively with President, Officers and Members – meet every week, follow Agenda, save valuable time as requested by Senior members

Completed successful website that is being used as sample for Clubs and Districts across Australia, Region

Send delegation of Website experts to manage new District online strategy and website content

Instituted processes and procedures for Board operations in acordance with new CLP (i.e. Project Action Plan, Budget/Projections, Agenda Procedures)
